Andrew Leonard, MSW, LICSW is the owner and lead clinician at ARISE Psychotherapy Services, Inc. Andrew earned his Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work at Boston College School of Social Work and is a licensed independent clinical social worker in the state of Rhode Island. He has worked exclusively in the treatment of mental health and SUDs in both inpatient and outpatient settings during his clinical career. Andrew’s experience includes working in a psychiatric hospital, partial hospital programs, SUD programs, as a member of the psychiatry team at a medical hospital, as an emergency services crisis clinician, as a fellow in a post-graduate clinical fellowship program, and providing individual and group psychotherapy in a wide variety of settings.

Andrew works primarily with adults seeking treatment for struggles with trauma, stress management, anxiety, depression, and SUDs. His style of therapy draws from multiple different models, including CBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness.

I have found it to be more effective to be able to utilize skills and techniques from several different modalities when appropriate, because each issue a person is looking to address may benefit from a different approach. However, there are also other times where staying within one model makes the most sense. I believe having more to draw from in working with others allows me to be a better clinician to a wider variety of folks, as no two problems or individuals are the same.”

My priority is to ensure that while working with an ARISE psychotherapist you always feel safe, comfortable, and free from judgment, and are treated with the highest degree of dignity and respect by a competent professional who understands and appreciates the great responsibility and privilege that comes with working with you in the role of a clinical psychotherapist.”
